After eliminating Liverpool, Real Madrid will face a significantly tougher challenge from the Premier League in the Champions League, as their semifinals opponents are none other than Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.

Los Merengues have a great chance of winning the entire Champions League, and they have experience in this competition that nobody else does. However, Chelsea are a dangerous side and cannot be underestimated. Here are several reasons why.

Look at what Chelsea did to Manchester City

Manchester City are running away with the Premier League title this season, but they were stymied by the Blues in the semifinals of the FA Cup this Saturday. Chelsea controlled the match and did an amazing job defensively against Pep Guardiola’s side, with Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger forming a rock-solid partnership in the middle.

The Blues won the ball high up the pitch and created plenty of chances, with the versatile Hakim Ziyech, who is no doubt familiar to Madridistas from the 2018-2019 campaign, playing a starring role as the lone goal-scorer.

City are semifinalists set to face PSG. If Chelsea can convincingly beat City – the team that eliminated Real in the Round of 16 last season – in an FA Cup semifinal, then they are definitely a threat to Real Madrid. There is no two ways around that.
