Real Madrid are already preparing for their next game on Wednesday night as they take on Cadiz three days after their 0-0 draw to Getafe which saw Zinedine Zidane field a very different lineup due to many players in his team suffering from injuries or Covid-19.

Goalkeeper:

He was absolutely immense in the game against Getafe and he will surely be starting once again as Thibaut Courtois will be the goalkeeper on the night. The Belgian has been in incredible form this season and we saw him at his very best in his man-of-the-match performance on Sunday night with six saves to keep Real Madrid in the game.

Defenders:

Things will look a little bit more familiar here when compared to the defense that we saw on Sunday night as players aim to return for this game. Nacho Fernandez will be expected to take Alvaro Odriozola’s place on the right side after he served his suspension.

In the center, we could see the return of Raphael Varane who has recovered from Covid-19 while he will be partnered with Eder Militao who has been in great form in the recent matches when the team has really needed him. The Brazilian has shown that he has what it takes to play for this team and he’ll need to now show that he can also be consistent whenever he’s needed.

On the left, Ferland Mendy is still injured and that means we could see Marcelo get another start as he’ll be one of the players with a very close eye on him after a pretty disappointing outing on Sunday.

Midfielders:

There is some good news here as well as we should expect Carlos Casemiro to start on the night after he has also served his suspension. In front of him, don’t be surprised if we see Luka Modric benched with Toni Kroos starting as the German was rested in the match against Getafe while the Croatian will desperately need some rest. Next to Kroos, we could see Federico Valverde start if he is cleared from isolation since he was in contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19 which is why he missed the game against Getafe.

Forwards:

He did not have a good outing against Getafe but will want to try and make amends as we could see Marco Asensio start on the right flank while Vinicius Junior will be chosen on the opposite side. They both will need to improve their performances and if they can show a bit more in this game, things will be a lot smoother in terms of moving forward efficiently.

It remains to be seen whether Zidane feels that this is the right time to call up Eden Hazard but even if the Belgian is on the squad list, he won’t start this match. Up front, Karim Benzema will start after resting for the majority of the game against Getafe while Mariano Diaz will be back on the bench. The Frenchman is the team’s highest goal scorer and they’ll need that as they simply cannot afford to drop any more points.
