Real Madrid probably won’t be busy in the summer transfer market, because Florentino Perez’s breakaway European Super League could make moves logistically difficult within this league of 12 (so far) and potentially even impossible outside the league.

But nevertheless, Perez was asked about a few transfer-related questions in his appearance on El Chiringuito, which he made in order to speak to the public about the reasons behind this super league idea.

Vinicius Junior was one of the players Perez was asked directly about, and, reassuringly, the Real Madrid president made a definitive statement about the future of the promising left winger.

Perez, via MadridXtra on Twitter, plainly stated that Vinicius Junior is unavailable for transfer. He is not for sale, no team can buy him, end of discussion.

The speculation of a Real Madrid, PSG swap involving Vinicius Junior is officially over and done

Although there was once speculation – including on that very program El Chiringuito – that Vinicius could be included in a transfer swap deal for PSG’s Kylian Mbappe, those rumors were effectively rubbished after Vini’s incredible performance against Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.

Vinicius also played well in the second leg of the Round of 16 against Atalanta and in El Clasico. Over the past couple of months, he’s improved his performances for Real Madrid after a rough patch of form in the middle of the season.

Just 20 years old, Vinicius is one of the most promising wingers in world football and can be a superstar for Real. With money tight and with Mbappe looking less likely due to PSG’s stance against the European Super League, Vini becomes even more important. If Real were to sell him, who would replace him in the squad?

Perez’s public statement in support of Vinicius douses frigid water on any remaining, smoldering wood in the fire. Vini has shown the quality and desire of a Madridista, and no matter what the future holds for the club in light of Perez’s controversial actions, hopefully Vini will be a key part of Real Madrid.
