Real Madrid drew last weekend against Getafe, and they may have dealt themselves a serious blow to their La Liga title hopes with another scoreless draw this weekend. Real Betis have been tough opponents for Los Blancos in the past few seasons, and this match was no exception.

Without Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos, and Ferland Mendy, Real dropped points in another vital league match. Overall, it was a poor performance from the team, even if it wasn’t horrible.

Here are three takeaways from Matchday 32 at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

Eder Militao a bright spot

Real Madrid defended well, once again, and Eder Militao was the star of the show. Without him, Los Blancos probably would have lost this game. He prevented Borja Iglesias from scoring a couple of times, even drawing Sergio Ramos comparisons with one interception in which he got his legs in the way much like Ramos would.

Militao’s best play came on a sequence that doesn’t officially account. Iglesias was in an offsides position when he latched onto a through pass, yet Militao still caught up to him quickly and had the skill to pry the ball loose.

Over the past couple of weeks, Militao has been a real bright spot for Real Madrid. Even in the last two weekends in which Real dropped points to Getafe and Betis, Militao has distinguished himself as a very good center back.
