Real Madrid are getting ready to face Chelsea in their next fixture, which will be the first leg of the Champions League semifinals. Madridistas have had to watch Real draw two of their last three games in the tight La Liga title race, as the club has been missing several key players after the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals. Toni Kroos has been the biggest absence.

Los Blancos did not look like themselves in two of those three matches without their outstanding midfielder, who has put up more impressive passing numbers than anyone else in Europe.

Thankfully, it looks like Real Madrid will have the world-class center midfielder back in the lineup against Chelsea on Tuesday night at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

A report from Carlos Forjanes of AS confirms that Toni Kroos practiced fully on Sunday and is set to play against Chelsea. The Real Madrid star is reportedly past the muscular issues that forced him out of the last three games.

Toni Kroos can help Vinicius Junior have a big day

There’s no doubt that Kroos is a game-changing boost for Los Blancos. He sets the tone and creates the most chances for the team, as he is Real’s leading assist-provider in La Liga. If Kroos weren’t available, Real would have also had major issues with the in-form Jorginho, who has been magnificent in the Champions League and is another great midfielder at controlling the pitch with his calmness and passing.

But as good as Jorginho is, there is nobody better in this role than Kroos. He can help unlock the potential of the attackers, too, namely Vinicius Junior. We saw how much Vinicius benefited from Kroos’ vision and passing accuracy from distance in the first leg win over Liverpool. Both of Vini’s goals were the result of a dangerous pass from Real Madrid’s “quarterback”.

It’s wonderful news to hear that Kroos is ready. Hopefully, he is not limited in any way against Chelsea and can play the full 90 minutes. Real Madrid need a strong start in the first leg at home, because the Blues are an excellent team.
