Sergio Arribas scored a stunner from half-field for Real Madrid Castilla

Real Madrid have a number of players on their youth team, Castilla, who have what it takes to develop into star players in La Liga. We have recently seen Antonio Blanco soak up high praise for his work with the first team, as he’s been handed starts in recent matches. And even defenders Miguel Gutierrez and Victor Chust have been getting opportunities to play.

None of those three players, however, stand atop of the list among Castilla players to receive the most chances with the first team this season. That honor belongs to right winger Sergio Arribas.

Although he has never started this season, Arribas has made 10 total substitute appearances, and he’s looked pretty darn good. He hasn’t made any spectacular plays, but he has stood out for his decision-making and rarely loses the ball. Arribas does not look out of place on a pitch with senior players. Not at all.

But he is capable of the spectacular, even if he hasn’t shown it with the senior side. This weekend in Castilla’s 3-1 win over Badajoz, Arribas helped his team overcome some missing players by scoring two amazing goals.

The first goal was the best of the bunch and NEEDS to be seen by all Real Madrid fans. It is one of the goals of the season.

Arribas noticed the keeper was off his line, and he did not hesitate for a split second. Barely into the opponent’s half and still within the confines of the center circle, Arribas unleashed a strike with his stronger left foot that seemed to glide in the air, arrowing with precision into the back of the net. Half-field goals are always impressive, but none moreso than shots like this that have power and placement, leaving the keeper with no chance.

As if that wondergoal from halfway out wasn’t enough, Arribas gave his team the lead again with a tremendous free kick goal.

Arribas was lined up outside the box from a tough angle, as he was in the left channel with a decent distance between him and the goal. That means he needed to find a way to swerve the ball into the goal from the left side with his stronger foot, and the key would be getting the right power and accuracy.

Well, if he can get power and accuracy from half-field, then even a tough angle on a free kicSet featured imagek is no problem for an in-form Arribas, right?

This strike, which you can watch from Real Madrid Fabrica on Twitter here, was perfect. And it helped Real Madrid Castilla march on to a victory.

There’s no doubt Arribas has the quality to become a starter in La Liga. These two goals should be watched over and over again, with the half-field effort being one of those unforgettable goals. Even at the youth level, it is incredibly impressive.
