Real Madrid will face Chelsea in the second leg of the Champions League semifinals this coming Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge. After escaping the first leg with a 1-1 draw in what was not even close to their best performance, Los Blancos know that the onus is on them to score goals in the second leg.

But Real have the star quality to turn things around and get the win they desperately need in order to return to the final of the competition. Here is a look at five players who can lead the way with a Man of the Match performance.

GK Thibaut Courtois

We begin with the best player of April, Thibaut Courtois. The Real Madrid shot-stopper has a lot to prove at Stamford Bridge. He has heard it all from Chelsea supporters since leaving for Los Blancos in 2018. They even refer to him as a “snake” for leaving London at the top of his game for the palace of Madrid.

Much to their delight, Courtois’ start to life in Madrid was nightmarish. But he has recovered well since the last Fall, re-asserting himself as arguably the best goalkeeper in the world. In fact, he has the highest save percentage of any keeper in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

The snake would love nothing more than to get the last laugh. He already came up big in the first leg, saving Chelsea’s high-priced forward Timo Werner from point blank range. And he’ll want to come up with a clean sheet on Wednesday night as an emphatic statement.
