After being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Chelsea in the semifinals, the only hope left for a trophy is La Liga and even though Real Madrid will need Atletico Madrid to slip up at some point, they will also have to ensure that they get maximum points from all four remaining matches if they want to even have a chance at retaining the title. It begins against fourth-placed Sevilla in what is arguably their most difficult match out of the four.

Goalkeeper

The only reason that Los Merengues had a chance against Chelsea during the second-leg is because of some incredible saves from Thibaut Courtois who will be expected to start as usual. The Belgian goalkeeper has been one of the most consistent players at the club throughout the season and he’ll need to be at his very best in the remaining matches.

Defenders

Zinedine Zidane is expected to return to his preferred formation which sees four defenders at the back as opposed to three with Alvaro Odriozola starting at right-back as he’ll be fit for this match after not playing against Chelsea. In the center, Sergio Ramos will get his second start in as many games after his return from injury while Eder Militao will continue to deservedly start in the center as well.

The Brazilian has been phenomenal since he first played against Liverpool and has proven that he has what it takes to be a starter at the club. On the left, Ferland Mendy could start once again ahead of Marcelo and he’ll be hoping for a better performance than what he came out with in midweek after also returning from a lengthy injury.

Midfielders

It’s difficult to see Zidane make any changes to his usual preferred midfield even with the return of Federico Valverde. Carlos Casemiro will be starting in defensive midfield as he continues to be one of the first names on the team sheet for the club and we’ll most probably see the familiar partnership of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in front of the Brazilian. Even though Valverde isn’t expected to start, he will almost definitely come on at some point in the second half depending on how the match is going. The Uruguayan offers something that no one in the team does and he could be a huge asset in the upcoming games.

Forwards

Things could get slightly tricky here for the team. Vinicius Junior will be expecting to start on one wing and it looks like the manager will almost definitely not give up on Eden Hazard who will want to make amends after a disastrous night in London which became the talk of everyone after he was pictured laughing after the match with Kurt Zouma from Chelsea. The Belgian has issued an apology, but he’ll have to do his talking on the pitch at some point and it could be when Real Madrid take on Sevilla. Karim Benzema is our top scorer and our best chance of finding the back of the net as he’ll be starting as the striker on the night.
