Real Madrid Transfers: 3 reasons they should not sell Eden Hazard
Real Madrid left winger Eden Hazard has been the main topic of discussion ever since his poor performance in the Champions League second leg at Chelsea, as well as his laughter after the game that was caught by cameras.
Hazard has since apologized for what happened, and Zinedine Zidane has doused cold water on the situation. Yet Hazard is now under even more pressure – as if that were even imaginable – after this incident, and there have even been rumors about his possible sale this summer.
Even the reliable Jose Felix Diaz of MARCA reported that Real Madrid are willing to “listen” to offers for the embattled superstar forward.
But here are three reasons why they should not sell him just yet.
Selling Eden Hazard would be reactionary
I know that Eden Hazard has underwhelmed for more than just one game and that the response from many Madridistas to the events in London were merely a culmination of frustration.
But how much can Hazard be blamed for what has happened to this point? Is it his fault Thomas Meunier went in on his ankle? Is it his fault he was rushed back too soon in the spring of 2020, summer of 2020, and multiple times this season?
We knew not to expect too much from Hazard this season. It was probably unfair to expect more from him against Chelsea, given he has never played a full 90 minutes this season and had only made one start prior to the Champions League elimination match. And look, it’s not like anyone else played amazing for Los Blancos in the loss either.
Hazard does need to play better, but to go from preaching patience to wanting a transfer over some ill-advised laughter? C’mon. It’s not like you didn’t know about Mr. Mario Kart’s laid-back attitude before all this.
