Real Madrid are usually well-represented in end-of-year awards, including those voted on by FIFA players that do not always reflect who the actual best players are. Case in point, some of the selections in FIFA 21’s La Liga Team of the Season.

However, Madridistas can enjoy new, high-octane cards of four of their favorite players. Via EA’s official site, center back Raphael Varane, striker Karim Benzema, defensive midfielder Casemiro, and right winger Lucas Vazquez made it into the team.

It’s no surprise that a quartet of Real Madrid players are in the team, and three of those players are regulars. Varane is arguably the best center back to use in FIFA, Case is a great defensive anchor for any midfield like in real life, and Benzema is so fun to play with when you have two inverted wingers around him. Like in reality, Benz is amazing in FIFA at dribbling around players and finding that final ball, but he can also finish off a chance.

The surprise name of the four is definitely Lucas Vazquez. I don’t think he’s ever been in a Team of the Season of any kind in his career, so this is a huge “first” for the Galician winger.

Lucas Vazquez deserved to make it into FIFA 21’s La Liga Team of the Season

And it is deserved. Before his injury, Vazquez was arguably La Liga’s best right back, filling in at the position for Dani Carvajal. He was great offensively with 1.8 key passes per game, 1.3 dribbles completed per game, and 1.3 fouls drawn per game, according to WhoScored.com. Although Vazquez was not fully familiar with playing right back, he made up for any positional weaknesses with hard work and effort.

So it’s great to see that he has a Team of the Season card. Some FIFA players will roll their eyes, but Madridistas would love to get their hands on the card. It does feel exclusive to the fanbase, given that Vazquez isn’t a “usual suspect” in these awards.

Possible snubs include midfielders Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, who were two of the best in the league. And Thibaut Courtois did not make it in, as Jan Oblak edged him out. Some Madridistas will have something to say about that.

Elsewhere, Nabil Fekir, Jules Kounde, Gerard Moreno, and heartbreaker Marcos Llorente are Team of the Season players of potential interest to Real Madrid fans.

In total, both Real and Atleti are tied for the most players in the FIFA 21 La Liga Team of the Season with four, while Barcelona have three. Sevilla, with two, are the only other team with multiple representatives. Real Betis and Villarreal have one apiece, Fekir and Moreno, respectively.
