2. Fede Valverde should play centrally

Federico Valverde started on the right-wing in the last match against Sevilla at home that ended in a disappointing 2-0 stalemate. Here, however, there is a need for a change and resulting improvement from the change. Fede was struggling on the right and stayed pretty much anonymous in the first half of the match.

It was Asensio’s introduction on the pitch that allowed Fede Valverde to shift to his much more comfortable central position and the impact as evident was instant. The game plan against Granada however would be different. It can be predicted to be a much more dominant Real Madrid show that they usually put up away from home.

The key in midfield would therefore be to play Valverde at the center of the park and inject energy into the play-making. Luka Modric can be given some rest, he was taken off after 66 minutes in the last game too. As such, young legs in midfield would be vital to win the midfield battle.

Granada themselves have a pretty good midfield set-up with players like Yander Herrera and Angel Montoro. Therefore, winning the ball further up the pitch and launching precise attacking moves will be a priority, and the key to doing that is very much having Fede Valverde in his preferred position.
