Real Madrid might not have enough money to make a marquee signing this summer, but you had better believe Florentino Perez is going to do anything he can to raise funds for a big-name attacker.

But forwards aren’t the only players on Real’s wishlist, even if they are the No. 1 priority for a team that has shown very little attacking prowess in most matches – namely their putrid Champions League exit to Chelsea.

So let’s take a look at five young players – age 23 or younger – whom Real Madrid could sign this year. The focus on youth is because Real are still prioritizing players they can build around for the next decade.

PSG FW Kylian Mbappe

Let’s start with the obvious, Kylian Mbappe. He is one of the best players in the world. In all honesty, if he goes to Real Madrid, it won’t be long before he is recognized as the consensus top player. For now, he seems to share the spoils with the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Robert Lewandowski, depending on who you ask.

Mbappe has 37 goals in all competitions this season and 10 assists between the Champions League and Ligue 1. He’s been damn near unstoppable in front of goal, and he is quietly elevating his game to new heights. Though there was nothing quiet about his hat trick at the Camp Nou.

Real Madrid will find it extremely difficult to sign their dream target, but he remains a distinct possibility for the ambitious Perez.
