Real Madrid will head into the summer 2021 transfer market with a huge hole in their squad and not much money to address it. As we saw in the second leg loss to Chelsea in the Champions League semifinals, Los Blancos really do need to sign a world-class winger who can score goals and offer more consistency than Eden Hazard, Vinicius Junior, and Marco Asensio.
Vini will come good in the future. Asensio is a nice role player. And Hazard could still be fantastic if he is healthy. The problem, though, is Real need someone proven now on the wings who can give the attack the star quality it needs.
It won’t be easy to sign such a player, though. Let’s take a look at five possible wingers Real Madrid could sign in the summer 2021 window.
PSG LW Kylian Mbappe
Let’s start with the most obvious candidate, and that is Kylian Mbappe. But while he is the dream choice and the most obvious top target, he is the most difficult to sign. Mbappe could be made available if he keeps rejecting PSG’s renewal offers, and watching the way Mauricio Pochettino’s side was eliminated by Manchester City in the semifinals probably did not sit well with the then-injured Mbappe.
At Real Madrid, Mbappe would be the unquestioned superstar, leading the line as a Galactico and working with the likes of Karim Benzema and, hopefully, Hazard.
Mbappe could cost upwards of 120 million euros, but if Los Blancos can raise the funds, they will view any price as worth it for a player of his caliber. Mbappe has 39 goals in all competitions this season. Imagine how much that production would help Los Merengues.
