Real Madrid will face Villarreal on Saturday afternoon at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, having picked up all three points this past weekend at San Mames. Since the Yellow Submarine’s season will be on the line a few days after this LaLiga fixture in the Europa League Final, Los Blancos will like their chances of holding up their end of the deal in the title race.

We’re all a bundle of nerves, no doubt, but here are three things Madridistas can look forward to on the final Matchday of the 2020-2021 LaLiga season.

The emotions of the last day

Although it’s hard to enjoy it in the moment, these are the kinds of matches Madridistas live for. Real Madrid strive for excellence every year, with the expectation that they will win at least one title. Zinedine Zidane somehow delivered in 2019-2020, and in arguably an even more difficult season due to COVID-19 and a ridiculous pile of injuries, Zidane is on the precipice of delivering a league title and a massive comeback on Atletico Madrid.

Even if Los Blancos win, they could still fall short of the title, since the ball is in Atleti’s court against struggling Real Valladolid. But Real’s players won’t be thinking about that on Saturday and neither should the fans.

So enjoy the big match. Enjoy the pressure. Enjoy that feeling of it all being on the line in 90 minutes. Because that’s what it means to be a Madridista. It means supporting the team in these big moments, even when you are just sitting at home, and relishing the emotions that come with a hard-fought title race.
