2. Marcelo – 6.5 Million Euros

The next name on the list is that of one of the greatest fullbacks in the history of Real Madrid and the current vice-captain of the club, Marcelo. He was signed from Fluminese for a sum of just 6.5 Million euros, in January 2007. He was expected to be the heir of Roberto Carlos, who played in the same position as him, and boy, he didn’t disappoint any fan.

Marcelo made the left-back position his own, thanks to his fantastic skill-set and Brazilian flair. He is often considered as the best left-back of this generation, and he’s also second on the list of most appearances made for the club by foreign players. In these 14 years as a Real Madrid, Marcelo has 38 goals and 101 assists to his name, while also winning 22 titles with the club.

1. Raphael Varane – 10 Million Euros

The final player on this list is none other than one of Real Madrid’s current center-backs, Raphael Varane, whose signing was nothing short of a masterstroke from the club. He was signed by the club at the age of 18, with his signing being a special request from then-manager Jose Mourinho. Varane’s signing was suggested by the current Real manager Zinedine Zidane (the sporting director back then).

Real Madrid managed to get such a wonderful talent from Lens for just 10 million with huge competition from many top clubs across Europe. Despite arriving at the club at such a young age, he managed to make it big at Real Madrid as he managed to become a  club legend and win everything that’s available by the time he turned 26.

Varane has won 18 trophies in these 10 years at Real Madrid and grew up to become one of the best in his position as well as a World Cup winner. Varane is currently in his peak and he’s rumoured to leave Real Madrid at the end of this season. But even if he leaves the club at this age, he will only leave as a club legend.
