The men who never gave up

Real Madrid had serious problems against Villarreal, and despite winning, I have to say that Madridistas should not come away impressed with the overall team performance. However, their were two players who carried the way from an attacking perspective, and it was only fitting that they scored the game-tying and game-winning goals.

Luka Modric was the Man of the Match. Per WhoScored.com, he led the team with three key passes and added a pair of fouls drawn and interceptions to boot. Plus, he scored the winning goal, half-volleying with his left foot after some nice chest control.

The work-rate from Modric was extraordinary, as usual. He has busted his behind for Los Blancos throughout the season, doing the work of two midfielders each and every week.

Benzema received criticism from the typical fools of social media who evidently only watch two full games of football per season and believe a player missing a couple of chances undoes an all-time carry-job of an attack.

Karim is the reason Real even had a shot at winning LaLiga on the very last day of the season, and he pulled through with a goal and an assist to rescue a victory from the jaws of defeat. If you don’t value him and you call yourself a Madridista, don’t be surprised if you find it hard earning respect in this fanbase. Because it is a grave sin to disrespect Real’s No. 9.
