Zinedine Zidane could be stepping down from his position over the course of the next few days after discussing his future with the board shortly.  This season has been Zidane’s first trophyless campaign in charge of the club since taking over in the 2015/16 season, leading Real Madrid to their 11th Champions League title in his debut season. Since then, Zinedine Zidane has led Los Blancos to 11 trophies over the course of six seasons.

In yesterday’s press conference, Zidane was planning on announcing his departure but decided against doing so after the club convinced him to listen to their project for next season, per a report from Edu Pidal.

The 48-year-old is set to meet with the board for a lengthy discussion over transfers, contract renewals, departures, and improving the overall bench strength. Zinedine Zidane has not been backed in the transfer market for the last three consecutive windows, leaving him with an extremely thin squad due to injuries and unnecessary departures.

Florentino Perez would have to guarantee the signing of Kylian Mbappe and the renewals of Sergio Ramos and Lucas Vazquez to convince Zidane to continue at the helm next season. The club has lined up alternatives to replace the 48-year-old but strongly believe that Zinedine is the best manager to lead the club back to glory, per El Chiringuito’s Josep Pedrerol.

Zinedine Zidane will make and announce his decision in the next few days. Until then, let’s have a look at three possible destinations for the 48-year-old next season.
