CB Victor Chust

My final rating of the season at center back goes to a Real Madrid Castilla player in Victor Chust. I could have easily decided not to rate Chust, and that would have been a valid option. Because Chust only made two starts in all competitions this season and three appearances in total.

But I’d like to take some time to praise Chust, as he looked good in all of these appearances. Chust was one of the few players who didn’t play poorly in that atrocious road loss to Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey. Meanwhile, he was one of the standout players, along with Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois, in his lone La Liga start this season against Getafe.

Chust should get some more minutes next season. I don’t know if he’ll join Antonio Blanco and Miguel Gutierrez in being called up to the first team, but the 21-year-old has a cool head on his shoulders, too, and showed some of the same leadership traits at Castilla in that clean sheet against rivals Getafe.

All in all, this was a decent season for Chust, because he did not make mistakes and did well both on and off the ball for Real Madrid whenever Zinedine Zidane called him into action. If he didn’t suffer an injury at the end of the season for Castilla, he probably would have made another appearance for Los Blancos.
