Why Eden Hazard must leave if Kylian Mbappe signs
Eden Hazard reportedly wants to leave Real Madrid this summer as the Belgian fears the potential arrival of Kylian Mbappe would see him fall down the pecking order at the club. The 30-year-old wants to return to Chelsea after having signed for Los Blancos in 2019 for 100 million euros, according to a report from Edu Aguirre of El Chiringuito TV.
After two seasons at Real Madrid, Hazard has managed to score just five goals in 43 fixtures in all competitions. The 30-year-old’s dream move to the Santiago Bernabeu has been marred with injuries and setbacks one after the other that has prevented him from kick-starting his career at the Spanish capital.
The Merengues were patient with Eden Hazard in his first season where he scored just one goal and kept hopping in and out of the team due to injuries. However, his second season has been no different at the Spanish capital and time seems to have run out for the Belgian.
The patience levels have been running thin with the 30-year-old and he could potentially be offloaded this summer for the right sum, according to Sky Sports.
Eden Hazard leaving Real Madrid could be an important step in financing a Kylian Mbappe transfer
Hazard’s potential departure this summer could turn out to be instrumental in signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain. The former Chelsea winger earns a staggering amount worth 25 million euros a year. His sale would free up a considerable amount of money on the payroll which can be used to fit Mbappe’s hefty wage demands.
A couple of months ago, AS reported that Kylian Mbappe had told Mauricio Pochettino that he only wants to play through the left-wing as that is his best position for him to cut inside and have a shot on goal.
If Mbappe is to sign for Madrid this summer, he will want the left-wing position that is currently occupied by Eden Hazard, at least on paper, it is. The 22-year-old’s arrival would mean that Hazard would have to make way by either leaving the club or playing on the right-wing.
The best option would be to leave for Eden Hazard is to leave. The Belgium international can start fresh at a new club after two horror seasons with Los Blancos. Meanwhile, Real can use his wages for Mbappe, who can easily guarantee the club 25-30 goals a season while playing on the left-wing, something that Eden Hazard could never achieve.
In short, Eden Hazard leaving is a win-win for everybody. Hazard gets a fresh start, Real Madrid sign Mbappe, and he gets to play in his preferred position.
