Real Madrid have officially confirmed the departure of Zinedine Zidane after the Frenchman decided to part ways with the club following a tough 2020/21 season.

Zinedine Zidane’s departure is certainly going to shake things up at Real Madrid. The Frenchman was loved and adored by the players, who also gave their everything on the pitch on numerous occasions this season when things were not favouring Los Blancos.

His departure will affect the morale of several key players who have grown close to him including the likes of Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Sergio Ramos to name a few. However, a change of management at a club could also mark a new beginning for a few players and could also see a chapter close for a few unfortunate ones.

I have come up with a list of five players whose future at the club were hinged on Zinedine Zidane’s continuity. However, with the Frenchman now relieved of his duties, what does the future hold for these five Real Madrid superstars.

LUCAS VAZQUEZ

Lucas Vazquez is Zinedine Zidane’s warrior on the field and his performances this season prove it. The 29-year-old is on the final month of his contract that expires at the end of June and with ZZ’s departure, it seems highly unlikely that Madrid would renew terms with him.

In my personal opinion, one of the many reasons why Zizou has decided to step down is because the warriors in his squad are yet to ink fresh terms with the club who have been stringent with renewal negotiations. Vazquez has given his everything this season and has played virtually anywhere on the field when called upon by Zinedine Zidane.

Zidane’s resignation could mean that Real Madrid will not be forced into renewing terms with Vazquez. Los Blancos are attempting to balance the books this summer and letting off Lucas Vazquez from their payroll is part of the plan.
