Real Madrid Transfers: The best hope at signing Kylian Mbappe this summer?
Real Madrid fans are watching Zinedine Zidane leave the club for the second time in three years after the 48-year-old decided to hand in his resignation.
Zidane’s decision has made things topsy-turvy for the club as the search for a replacement continues to get complicated with Massimiliano Allegri closing in on the Juventus job despite being in contact with Florentino Perez.
However, one objective remains the same and is not going to be hindered or altered irrespective of who the coach is next season. That is the signing of Kylian Mbappe, this summer transfer window.
According to Carlos Carpio from Marca, Real Madrid believe they can earn 70 million euros from selling Raphael Varane. He writes that the ideal is for Los Blancos to sell him to Paris Saint-Germain as part of their attempt at signing Kylian Mbappe.
Is this the best way for Real Madrid to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer?
There is no other option but to sign Mbappe this summer transfer window. Real Madrid are desperately in the need of a goal-scoring winger and Mbappe is the perfect man for the job. Even if it means parting ways with Varane to sign the 22-year-old winger, then so be it.
Raphael Varane is on contract with the club until 2022 but has stalled renewal negotiations for the past couple of months which has ultimately left the club hierarchy impatient. The 28-year-old wants a new challenge and has been linked with a move to Manchester United who require a defender of his calibre and stature alongside Harry Maguire. Varane also wants an improvement in his contract as he earns just six million euros a year and can easily earn a significantly higher amount if he moves to the Premier League or Paris Saint-Germain.
Selling Varane this summer will certainly be Real Madrid’s best shot at reaching 120 million euros from player sales as the Frenchman could be sold for 75 million or more. The rest can be accumulated by offloading the likes of Eden Hazard, Isco, Dani Ceballos, Marcelo, Mariano Diaz and Gareth Bale.
Varane’s departure would not hurt Real Madrid too badly either with David Alaba set to be announced in the next few days, and Sergio Ramos edging closer to renewal. Nacho and Eder Militao have also proven their worth this season and will be perfect back-ups to Ramos and Alaba next season.
The Varane move to PSG does not seem to be a bad option if it ultimately ends with Kylian Mbappe completing a move this summer. His contract is running out and they could be forced to sell this summer, but we’ll have to see in the coming weeks how reluctant PSG are to start negotiating with Real.
