FEDE VALVERDE

Federico Valverde was Real Madrid’s standout performer from the 2019/20 title-winning season. The Uruguayan international started the 2020/21 season on a high note and played a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s important victory against Barcelona at the Camp Nou by scoring the opener. However, Valverde has been slightly unfortunate this season in terms of injuries and has struggled a little with form.

But, his fighting spirit and his commendable work rate have remained unchanged. Valverde’s presence in the midfield was missed in both the legs against Chelsea in the semi-final of the UCL and his presence in the starting eleven could have certainly had a strong impact on Real progressing over the Blues to the finals.

With Toni Kroos and Luka Modric catching up with age, coupled with the lack of central midfielders in the squad, Fede Valverde will certainly play an important role next season and could start several fixtures to give Modric a rest.
