WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO LUKA JOVIC AND MARTIN ODEGAARD?

Luka Jovic’s future at the club is uncertain at the moment after the Serbian was added to the list of possible players that can be sold over the summer. The Serbian did not have the best relationship with Zinedine Zidane and the Frenchman’s recent resignation could have been a blessing in disguise for Jovic to restart his career at Madrid.

The club may part ways with the 23-year-old who is wanted by his former club Eintracht Frankfurt. However, Jovic could be provided a lifeline if Antonio Conte is employed as the Italian is expected to use his preferred 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation, thus providing Jovic with a real shot at possibly starting alongside Karim Benzema in the two striker system. Eden Hazard would certainly be Conte’s first choice to play alongside Karim, but his frequency of injuries could pave the path for Luka Jovic.

Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard also faces a similar situation. The Norwegian had his loan spell at Real Sociedad cut short by Zinedine Zidane who had plans of using him often in the first team. However, Odegaard failed to impress and was mostly kept on the bench before being loaned out to Arsenal.

The 22-year-old wants a prominent role in the squad as a starter, however, that cannot be guaranteed given the level of competition in the midfield. The new manager will have to decide whether he wants Odegaard to be part of his plans and convince him with a secondary role or loan him out for the third time.
