6. 3-1 Liverpool bashing at home, Champions League quarterfinals.

Real Madrid faced their friendly Champions League rivals, Liverpool, for the quarterfinal. Given the episodes in the history of the two clubs, it was a blockbuster European draw. Los Blancos hosted the Reds for the first leg, but they were bad hosts. They dominated play and controlled the game almost for fun.

Toni Kroos put up a master-class influencing two of the three goals that Real Madrid score and Vinicius Junior received the player of the week award for his sparkling brace. Mohamed Salah pulled one back for the visitors but couldn’t do anything more.

The match set up a comfortable two-goal cushion for Real Madrid moving into the second leg at Anfield. Los Blancos saw through a 0-0 draw in a defensive performance to be talked about for years to come as they stepped into the semis.

5. Injury time equalizer against Sevilla, Matchday 35, La Liga

This is a game that will haunt Madridistas for few more days in remembrance of the season. The destiny of the league title was in the hands of Los Blancos and they lost their chance at continuing it for three other matchdays to come.

Real Madrid had a decent chance at going to the top of the title riding on the better head-to-head record they enjoy against both Atleti and Barca. The game also had a furious touch to it as at a point in the match both clubs had a decent penalty shout that went Sevilla’s way.

Zinedine Zidane was seen talking to the referee and later expressing his anger at the inconsistency of handball calls. However, the most crucial part of the match was when Toni Kroos drilled in a shot within injury time when the Reds led 2-1. It took a touch of Eden Hazard out of all bodies on the pitch and resulted in a crucial equalizer to keep alive in the title race.
