Real Madrid have a lot of questions to answer on the transfer market this summer. Most of the intrigue will focus on Kylian Mbappe – and for good reason. He is the most valuable player in the world and is someone who can transform Los Blancos.

At the same time, a lot of Madridistas should be just as interested in what happens with some of Real’s current young standouts. Aside from the usual suspects like loanees Luka Jovic, Martin Odegaard, and Brahim Diaz, Castilla standouts like Victor Chust and Miguel Gutierrez are starting to generate interest around LaLiga.

According to a report from Cadena SER’s Jose Manuel German out of Valencia, Levante are showing interest in Real Madrid left back Miguel Gutierrez, who was a real breakout star for Los Blancos down the stretch of the 2020-2021 season. With Ferland Mendy out, Gutierrez became a key player, usurping Marcelo as the starter with good performances in wins over Granada, Villarreal, and even Athletic Club at San Mames.

Levante’s interest in Gutierrez on the left side of the formation is presumably loan interest, because I’m sure Los Merengues would not even contemplate selling such a promising player. Gutierrez has a chance to be a future starter for Real.

Could Real Madrid’s pursuit of Jorge de Frutos increase Levante’s chances of an unlikely Miguel Gutierrez loan?

I don’t even think they should loan Gutierrez. He could push for starts next season and is 100 percent the better option to Marcelo, who may be sold this summer. Gutierrez and Mendy would complement each other well as options on the left-hand side.

So why am I even contemplating the possibility of Levante’s interest in amounting to anything?

Jorge de Frutos.

The former Real Madrid player was sold to the Frogs last summer, but Los Merengues have a 15 million euro buy-back option for the right-sided player. De Frutos has been on Real’s radar for months, and there have been contacts between Perez and Levante’s president regarding the player recently.

Hopefully, Real Madrid don’t relent and keep Miguel Gutierrez for next season

A lot is up in the air since Carlo Ancelotti has JUST been reported as the new manager to replace Zinedine Zidane, but de Frutos would make a lot of sense for Real. Even though they have reportedly renewed with right back and winger Lucas Vazquez, de Frutos could be a good signing for Real. He is worth that money and is coming off a productive breakout season with four goals and nine assists.

If Levante REALLY want Gutierrez, their president, Quico Catalan, could find some way to sweet-talk Perez into a loan. He could find a way to incentivize a move financially and convince Perez of the benefits of Gutierrez making a move. And what if Ancelotti wants to keep an “old guard” member in Marcelo? He has been known to be player-first, especially to big names.

It could get tricky for Real Madrid. We know Levante and Real have a great relationship. Beyond the de Frutos move, Borja Mayoral had a good season on loan in 2019-2020 with the Frogs. Hopefully, Real hold onto Gutierrez for 2021-2022, but this is a situation for Madridistas to keep a corner of their eye on.
