Real Madrid will have an active summer in the transfer market. After selling a few talented players like Sergio Reguilon and Achraf Hakimi last year, Los Blancos will have to part ways with even more notable players in the 2021 summer window. Some of these players will be declining veterans, but Real may also have to get rid of a couple of promising players who are going to have trouble breaking through.

In total, Real Madrid sent 14 players out on loan for the 2020-2021 season. Let’s take a look at five players who may not return to the first team in 2021-2022.

Granada CB Jesus Vallejo

First on the list is Jesus Vallejo. The once-promising center back’s stock has fallen sharply these past two seasons at Wolves and Granada. After earning a big reputation in the Bundesliga at Eintracht Frankfurt, the Spanish central defender is now widely seen as an afterthought.

Real Madrid have no use for him now. They have Eder Militao, Nacho Fernandez, and David Alaba locked in as capable center backs. One of Sergio Ramos or Raphael Varane could still stay. And Victor Chust and Pablo Ramon are younger, better central defenders than Vallejo.

A rebound is possible for Vallejo, but Real aren’t going to want to wait around for the 24-year-old to turn things around. Fully expect a summer sale here.
