Real Madrid: 3 players who benefit the most from Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment
Under Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid played an attractive brand of counter-attacking football. The Italian in his first tenure guided Los Blancos to the Copa del Rey and then ended the long 12 year wait for the UEFA Champions League by delivering the La Decima in Lisbon.
Ancelotti is now back at the dugout again at Real Madrid after officially being announced as the new manager. The Italian will be joined by former pupil Alvaro Arbeloa as his assistant along with Antonio Pintus as the fitness coach. Meanwhile, the club is looking into the option of hiring Luis Campos to further improve the sporting project.
Promising times lie ahead for Los Blancos with all the changes happening. Ancelotti’s appointment might also turn out to be a turning point for a few players in their careers. Let’s have a look at three players who are most certainly going to benefit from Carlo Ancelotti’s reappointment.
GARETH BALE
In my previous article, I covered in detail how Gareth Bale might benefit from Carlo Ancelotti’s reappointment. The Welshman played an important role under Carlo in the two seasons he was in charge, contributing to a total of 70 goals from 31 assists and 39 goals in just 92 games. That’s how good Gareth Bale was under the Italian despite struggling with injuries in his first two seasons.
There has been a lot of talk lately surrounding the 31-year-old such as early retirement, a shot at professional golf, being sold by Real Madrid, and tons of unnecessary drama. In reality, Gareth Bale is not retiring after the Euro’s with Wales and could possibly be part of Real Madrid next season.
COPE reports that Bale is part of Ancelotti’s plan next season and is expected to see out his final year of his contract under the former Everton manager. The 31-year-old was managed to keep fit lately and had a stellar campaign with Tottenham Hotspur, one can hope that Carlo gets the best out of him in what could be his final season in white.
