MARTIN ODEGAARD

It would have actually been Isco had this been probably a couple of seasons ago. The Spanish midfielder was Ancelotti’s secret weapon from his arsenal and he also received the most number of appearances under the Italian. Isco played a total of 106 games under Carlo and was his wild attacking card due to his versatility.

Currently, Real Madrid have a better, fitter, and younger alternative in the shape of Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian midfielder was signed under Ancelotti’s tenure but since then he has not really been given the opportunity to display his talent in the white jersey.

Carlo Ancelotti loves an attacking midfielder and he has made the most out of the likes of Isco and James Rodriguez during his time at the Bernabeu. The latter had a phenomenal debut season under Carlo and has enjoyed good spells at Bayern Munich and Everton with the Italian.

This time around, Martin Odegaard could be the breakout star. He was given a few chances under Zinedine Zidane before being sidelined to the bench. However, he could turn a new leaf in his career under the new manager to replace Isco’s role off the bench. Is this the opportunity that the 22-year-old was waiting for all these years?
