3. LW Eden Hazard

My colleague Ranoveer Neogi wrote that Eden Hazard should be on his way out if Kylian Mbappe signs with Real Madrid this summer, and I am inclined to agree with him. Hazard is going to be difficult to move, because his value is at an all-time low. He played just 533 minutes in LaLiga due to injury, and while he wasn’t as bad as some people think, Hazard was still nowhere near a “superstar” level.

Hazard has name recognition and bounce-back upside, but his upside is tapered by very serious injury questions. He seems to go down shortly after returning ever single time, and that’s why we’re at this point where we are discussing him as a possible sale.

Selling Hazard would relieve wage space, but it would not make Real Madrid much money due to the lack of interest in him. The only team touted in rumors is Chelsea, and I’m really not sure Thomas Tuchel would want him. He has younger options on that left-hand side in Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner.

Hazard becomes redundant if Mbappe signs, since he will be the superstar on the left and the team will have Vinicius Junior and potentially Rodrygo Goes as the backups. So then there’s no space or need for Hazard, unless if Mbappe would be willing to play on the right-hand side on occasion to help Hazard out.

I just don’t see where Hazard fits if Real sign Mbappe, so he’s someone to consider shopping around IF Real Madrid feel they have a shot at PSG’s No. 7. Of course, that’s a big “if”.
