There’s a cloud of uncertainty over the future of several Real Madrid players including the likes of Isco, Marcelo, Raphael Varane, and Sergio Ramos. Lucas Vazquez was also on the back of an expiring contract, however, according to COPE’s Miguel Angel Diaz, Vazquez has renewed terms with the club until 2024 after a prolonged period of negotiations.

In the case of Raphael Varane, the Frenchman has been linked with an exit this summer in search of a new challenge and a better contract. The 28-year-old along is one of the three senior squad members along with Isco and Sergio Ramos who will not continue with Los Blancos next season.

In fact, a report from COPE has also claimed that Real are willing to let Varane leave for as little as 40 million euros. Sounds a little unrealistic to be true, isn’t it? When the likes of Harry Maguire and John Stones have been sold for 87 million euros and 55 million euros respectively, they are far inferior defenders in front of the Frenchman.

Nonetheless, the club is open to the idea of parting ways with Varane this summer as his contract runs out next year. Let’s have a look at three possible reasons why Real Madrid have decided to offload one of the world’s best centre-backs.

REAL MADRID NEED TO CASH IN ON VARANE NOW

Raphael Varane and his agent have been stalling renewal negotiations for quite some time which has certainly infuriated Florentino Perez and the rest of the hierarchy at the club. There is no doubt that Varane has been an integral member of the team since his arrival but his attitude towards a renewal will not be tolerated by the club.

With his contract expiring in a year’s time and his market value-priced at 70 million euros, Los Blancos have a golden opportunity to cash in on the defender and help balance their financial books. In terms of suitors, they’ll be no limit on clubs wanting a quality defender in the shape of Raphael Varane. Teams such as Manchester United are eager on procuring his signature and are also willing to pay a premium price.
