30th June 2021. It is the date on which Sergio Ramos’ contract at Real Madrid will expire. Recently there hasn’t been any sort of positive news about Sergio Ramos’ impending renewal at Real Madrid. And a recent report from ABC Deportes suggests that Real Madrid have taken the proposed renewal offer off the table, and they’re preparing for a farewell.

All this points to only one thing. that Sergio Ramos might leave Real Madrid after a 16-year stay at the Spanish capital, during which he won 22 trophies and became one of the greatest defenders of all time.

Real Madrid has offered an extension of a year with a 10% pay cut on his current salary, but the club captain has been adamant on a two-year contract extension. He hasn’t taken the route of his closest friend at Real Madrid, Luka Modric, and hasn’t agreed to Florentino Perez’s terms. So the club seems to have taken back their offer, while Ramos has reportedly received an offer from Manchester City.

This time, Ramos must leave most probably, but there is still hope for an extension. Carlo Ancelotti is a great fan of Capitano, and in his first press conference as Real Madrid’s new manager, he said that he needs to have a talk with Ramos to solve his situation. This definitely suggests that Don Carlo wants to have Ramos in his plans.

So everything might not be done yet. And in my opinion, it is better for Real Madrid to make one last attempt to renew El Capitano’s contract. Let us take a look at the reason why the club should retain the captain, and how it might be the best option at the moment.
