Real Madrid: Three crucial tasks for Carlo Ancelotti to address
HOW TO REVIVE THE ATTACK AT REAL MADRID
Carlo Ancelotti made a few promising statements in his first press conference as Real Madrid manager. The Italian stated that he is keen on instilling a system in the team that can improve the attack and also see other forwards contribute towards goal.
"“We need to build an offensive system with a lot of goals from everyone, the youngsters, all the forwards, the midfielders, everyone”"
Apart from Karim Benzema and Rodrygo Goes, Real certainly do have quite a dead attack. Eden Hazard has been decent when fit and nothing all that special, meanwhile Vinicius Jr and Marco Asensio have failed to be decisive in the final third.
While Carlo Ancelotti has addressed the issue, the question is how does he implement a new system that can get the best out of the current team without any new acquisitions. Signing Kylian Mbappe this summer might be complicated after PSG’s president’s recent comments.
If that is the case, Ancelotti will have to somehow transfer these same players into effective forwards in the final third. But how’s he going to do it? Will there be a change in the formation? I guess not. In my opinion, it’s going to be a change in the system.
I assume Carlo will stick to a 4-3-3 but instead of overloading the wings and crossing the ball into the box, Ancelotti will implement a more direct system with the game progressing more through the centre rather than being rotated. During his first stint, Madridristas witnessed fluid attacking football and I hope we can be treated to the same counter-attacking football that can get the best out of all the players.
