WIDE FORWARDS

The frontline has been an issue since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in 2018. Since then, Karim Benzema has carried the attack with almost no support from his counterparts.

It would be unwise to start another season with the same attacking options and expect Benzema to bear the burden once again. On that note, Kylian Mbappe is the prime target for the summer, however, it will be quite a difficult transfer to pull off given the club’s financial strength amidst the pandemic.

The right-wing also needs to be addressed as Marco Asensio has been one of the most disappointing players last season. Carlo Ancelotti could rebuild the ineffective right-wing by keeping Gareth Bale at the club next season to play out his final year. The Welshman dropped a masterclass performance against Turkey in the Euro’s yesterday and had a brilliant campaign with Tottenham Hotspur as well.

Even if the club does not sign Mbappe, Carlo Ancelotti can make more of the attack if he makes use of Bale and Luka Jovic. A front three of Eden Hazard ( if he keeps fit), Karim Benzema, and Gareth Bale look good on paper, and options from the bench such as Vinicius Jr, Luka Jovic, and Rodrygo Goes give Carlo more room to work with.
