June 16, 2021, a rain-drizzled night in the Spanish capital, all including Mother Nature herself expressed their grief as an official announcement from Real Madrid CF’s website reads of the club legend Sergio Ramos’s farewell to be held the next day.

Within minutes, the footballing community was shaken. Social Media, flooded with words of glory for the Madrid No 4, by fans, colleagues, pundits, and even footballing rivals. It was official now, months of speculations and then a reported agreement on a year of renewal with a 10% salary cut, all went to vain. El Capitan was indeed moving out of the Royal White Club.

There is no second thought to the fact that Sergio Ramos’s void would be a difficult one to fill for Florentino Perez. The fondest of my memories of supporting the club were with Sergio Ramos acting as a watchful protector of the defensive third. In the opinion of many, he represented what modern-day Madridismo meant, a perfect embodiment of every single thing this club stands for.

It is no surprise that Sergio Ramos leaves behind a glorious legacy at Real Madrid. He won 22 major titles during his time with the Royal club, 10 of them were won with him being the captain.

A detailed list of silverware:

While I compile this list of his silverwares, I duly hope someday he returns back to the club and adds more, maybe not as a player but at a different position. A 16 yearlong bond just can’t be discounted like that upon an offer expiry.

4 x UEFA Champions League:

He started his Champions League collection with the coveted La Decima win in 2013/14 under the captaincy of Iker Casillas. He then went on to win 3 back to back titles between 2015/16 to 2017/18, all under Zinedine Zidane’s management.

5 x La Liga:

Ramos won his first LaLiga a year into his Real Madrid career. He joined the club from Sevilla in the summer of 2005 and then won his first LaLiga in 2006/07. He had another three wins in 2007/08, 2011-12, and 2016-17 before his last LaLiga title in 2019/20 under another Zizou rescue mission.

2 x Copa del Rey:

Ramos also has two Spanish Cups under his belt coming in the 2010/11 and 2013/14 seasons respectively.

4 x Supercopa de Espana:

Spanish Super Cups are always a treat to watch and had some real fiery action in store. Ramos won the competition four times with Real Madrid in 2008/09, 2012/13, 2017/18, and 2019/20 seasons.

3 x UEFA Super Cup:

Real Madrid followed their La Decima win with a first UEFA Super Cup victory in 2013/14. Ramos then added another couple as captain in 2016/17 and 2017/18 consecutively.

Next. The 5 players Real Madrid should have never sold. dark

4 x FIFA Club World Cups:

In the department of FIFA’s Club World Cup competition too, Ramos has four dazzling pieces of silverware to show for coming in 2014 and 2016 editions. And, then winning it consecutively in 2017 and 2018.
