It’s only a matter of time before Sergio Ramos announces his new club. The 35-year-old ended his 16-year long association with Real Madrid on quite a surprising note after months of elongated negotiations. From the 30th of June, Ramos will be available as a free agent on the transfer market.

With that being said, several European powerhouses will look to snap up the world’s best centre-back and the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are already in contention.

In my opinion, PSG look like clear favourites in the transfer race to sign Ramos this summer and I’ll explain why.

PSG CAN OFFER A BETTER CONTRACT

Sergio Ramos wanted a two-year contract from Real Madrid but Florentino Perez remained stern with his single-year extension offer with a 10% reduction in wages. This altercation between the two ultimately resulted in Madrid’s greatest defender walking away without a thorough reception from the fans.

At Paris Saint-Germain, the 35-year-old could be offered the contract he demanded. PSG are one of the very few clubs that have not been adversely affected by COVID-19 and its severe financial implications.

The Paris-based club are going all out this summer in a bid to build an impressive sporting project to win the UEFA Champions League and would certainly want Ramos to be part of it. Nasser Al-Khelaifi would not have to think twice before offering Sergio Ramos a two-year contract with a better wage than he could possibly receive anywhere else in Europe.
