3. Germany FW Kai Havertz
Very recently, Timo Werner was in the discussion after reported interest from Carlo Ancelotti. However, he hasn’t had a great tournament. The man I am picking is his club and country-mate, Kai Havertz. Germany has had a bumpy ride until the knockout qualifications but, Havertz has put his best foot forward for his nation, he has now scored in two consecutive games.
Havertz has been starting all of Germany’s games. He had a hard outing against France who very rightly outplayed the Germans in the first game though the scoreline of 1-0 suggested otherwise. He however improved significantly in the later games. He forced a crucial equalizing own goal from Ruben Dias in their 4-2 thrashing of Portugal and also scored once in the second half.
He then continued his scoring run against Hungary in a difficult game. The Hungarians were determined at putting everything in the game. Havertz was the man who equalized for Germany in the second half after conceding as early as eleven minutes into the game. He played particularly well against Hungary, he also had two successfully completed long balls to show for.
He had registered a total of nine shots and two key passes in the tournament so far alongside winning his team two freekicks. At times he chipped in defensively as well and has a tackle and a clearance to his name. Overall he made a great comeback after a poor game against France, achieving an above 7 match rating in the next games, per WhoScored. He has shown promise for improvement and deserves to be on this list of Real Madrid targets.
