Real Madrid: Forwards who have impressed as transfer targets at Euro 2020
2. Czech Republic FW Patrik Schick
On number two, I have placed a forward who has been a true Euros breakout. Every single time the Czech Republic has taken the pitch, the cameras have zoomed into one man and that is Patrik Schick. The 25-year-old Bayer Leverkusen man has taken the football community by surprise with his wonder-goal from the mid-way line against Scotland.
Schick has four goals to his name so far and most importantly, the Czech Republic is still alive in the competition after knocking the Netherlands out in the Round of 16. This means he’d have more chances to score and would give the likes of Romelu Lukaku some hard time in the race to be the highest goal scorer.
He has registered a total of 13 shots in the tournament and has two key passes to his name, per WhoScored. He has put in his fair share of dribbles alongside winning his team two freekicks in the tournament so far. He has hardly set a foot wrong so far in the tournament and he’d be a key man for the Czechs to thank for however long they continue in the European Championships.
Schick has also contributed defensively, in fact, he may have done a bit more than his fair share. He had a total of five tackles and four clearances in the defensive front for his nation. And, that is a forward we are talking about. Overall he has shown a lot of conviction in his game and that includes things beyond his goal scoring.
He has rightly maintained a whopping overall rating of 7.5 in the tournament so far, per WhoScored. The only reason why he isn’t placed at number one is that the player on number one is a better fit for Real Madrid in my opinion.
