Real Madrid: 3 takeways from Karim Benzema’s Euro 2020 performances
THERE’S MORE TO COME FROM KARIM BENZEMA
Despite being excluded for six years from the national team, Karim Benzema acclimatized to his new environment easily. Four goals in his first major tournament for France since his return is certainly impressive and there is definitely more to come from Benzema.
At the age of 33, he’s aged like fine wine and will certainly play an important role for France in their quest to defend the World Cup in 2022. Benzema’s hot run of form this season has been sublime, to say the least, and the expectations will be sky high once again for the 2021-22 season under Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
Overall, Karim Benzema had a great individual performance at the Euro and it’s a pity that France’s campaign ended prematurely against Switzerland. They were considered favourites to win it and Benzema made large strides in the decisive games to help France proceed further.
Maybe it just wasn’t meant to be, however, there’s still plenty of goals left in Benzema’s tank for France and Real Madrid. With Euro coming to an end for Karim, he’s ended the 2020/21 season on a high with a fantastic run with club and country. A new season now awaits the 33-year-old under a new manager at Real Madrid. Let’s see what the new season has in store for Karim Benzema.
