Manchester United find themselves in the same boat as Real Madrid. The Red Devils desperately require a world-class centre-back to partner Harry Maguire in the heart of the defence. They have been linked with Raphael Varane, however, Real Madrid will do everything in their power to convince Varane to renew his contract that expires in the summer of 2022.
In my opinion, Manchester United might have the upper hand in signing Kounde ahead of Real Madrid due to their financial status. Apart from their financial backing, the Red Devils desperately require a centre-back and it’s at the top of their list for the summer. They are already set to sign Borussia Dortmund superstar winger Jadon Sancho and will now divert all attention towards landing a quality centre back which could be either Raphael Varane or Jules Kounde.

Sevilla wants 80 million euros for their star defender, a figure that Los Blancos cannot afford currently post-pandemic as their financial resources are limited and will most likely be used to sign only Kylian Mbappe. With that being said, Manchester United can be considered as the favourites to sign Jules Kounde this summer.
