After an incredible journey at Real Madrid for ten years, Raphael Varane might be finally leaving Los Blancos. We usually get to see Raphael Varane to Manchester United rumours every summer, but this time the rumours are more serious than ever, and Real Madrid might actually end up losing the Frenchman.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are in contact with Real Madrid for the Frenchman. Though there isn’t any official bid yet, the interest is real and apparently Varane is the English club’s primary target in defence.

Varane’s current contract at Real Madrid expires next year and he is open to a renewal, but at the moment both parties aren’t able to reach an agreement for an extension. If the situation continues the same way, Real Madrid might have to sell Varane in this window itself, to avoid the risk of losing one of the club’s most prized assets for free. And with Varane open to take up a new challenge, the Frenchman’s sale might not be a difficult task.

Losing both Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, the longstanding centre-back duo, might be a huge blow for Real Madrid. But the club don’t seem to be hesitating to let go of Varane, a player who’s still 28 and is about to enter his prime. Let us have a look at the reasons why Real Madrid aren’t trying very hard to keep hold of Varane.
