Real Madrid’s financial predicament post-pandemic is a serious cause for concern. It’s no secret that Madrid are struggling financially and signing world-class players looks more like a dream than reality as of now. With that being said, Real Madrid will have to look into affordable signings or underrated gems to improve their squad for the next season or two.

However, there’s always the option of a free agent. While in reality, no signing is a free signing due to bonuses such as signing on fee, agent fee, commissions and so on. It’s still an affordable method for signing quality players. With that being said, I’ve come up with a list of players that Los Blancos can target in the summer of 2022 and potentially sign them on a free contract.

These five players have their contracts running out in 2022, which means that Real Madrid can negotiate a deal with them in January 2022 itself. Let’s have a look at some of the players on the list.

Eduardo Camavinga: One of the most sought-after youngsters in football

Real Madrid have kept a close tab on Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga. The French midfielder is a promising talent from the Ligue 1 and has shown the potential to transform into one of the very best players in his position.

Camavinga is a versatile central midfielder who can operate effectively on both ends of the field. His defensive contribution and efficiency is his forte, meanwhile, he’s quite impressive higher up on the field with his ball progression and vision.

The 18-year-old’s contract with Rennes expires in the summer of 2022 and as of now, there have been no talks of a potential contract renewal. Rennes wants Camavinga to stay, however, his agent Jonathan Barnett has made it quite clear that his client will make a big move shortly as he does not intend to renew his contract, per Marca.

With that being said, Camavinga will be a free agent in 2022 and Real Madrid can finally end their quest of signing the youngster.
