Leon Goretzka: A great but unlikely option for Real Madrid

Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich’s engine room will have his contract run out in the summer of 2022. It’s already been reported that a renewal is on the cards, but he’s garnered interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Would Goretzka be a good signing for Real Madrid? Well if the club is to sign him as a free agent in 2022, then it surely would be. I’ll tell you why. Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are in the twilight years of their career.  Apart from Federico Valverde, we do not have a solid box to box or thorough central midfielder. The only one is Dani Ceballos who also has an uncertain future. Well, there’s Antonio Blanco too but he lacks experience and is more of a defensive midfielder.

Now, coming back to Goretzka, he can add muscle power and raw physicality to the midfield. The game against Chelsea in the semi-final just proved how a young side can easily walk over our midfield.

Goretzka can rotate with Casemiro and could even cement a place in the starting lineup due to his ability on the ball. He can rotate with either Luka or Toni as well due to his box to box playing ability.

All in all, the German would be a good signing but it seems like he’s going to extend his stay at Munich.
