Real Madrid are interested in signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain and could finally realise their longstanding interest in him.

The French international has continuously stalled on an extension with the Ligue 1 giants and seems ever closer to leaving the Parc des Princes in the upcoming months. There is talk however that Mbappe will remain put until the expiry of his deal in 2022, although PSG may prefer selling their man this summer to mitigate the possibility of losing him for free a year later.

Los Blancos have prepared for Mbappe’s signing since several months and have sufficient funds to go for the World Cup winner. The 13-time European champions have sacrificed on rebuilding some other areas in the squad to go all-in for Kylian Mbappe, though rightfully. However, just like everything in football, there may be a contrasting view about possibly postponing the signing till 2022.

Given that Mbappe has rejected several contracts with PSG, Real Madrid have the ball in their court and the player is part of that court too. Having said that, it is now looking like a question of when instead of if the young superstar will sign for Real Madrid. In hindsight, waiting till 2022 may not be the worst of choices to make. What are the three reasons for this?
