REAL MADRID CAN GIVE KEY WINGERS A FINAL SHOT AT REDEMPTION

Although Zinedine Zidane was a fan favourite for his personality and largely victorious career, he was not the best of tacticians and had little tactical variation. His primary and only approach involved crossing the ball into the box and hoping someone would get to the end of it, which did not work out at all last season as Los Blancos lacked a good target man in the box.

Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment and skipping on Mbappe for a year will give Marco Asensio and Rodrygo Goes the chance to redeem themselves in the campaign which is on its way. Asensio and Rodrygo are brilliant players and can do extremely well in a favourable system- which the newly appointed Italian manager will apply, taking into consideration those at his disposal.

One must be mindful that Rodrygo suffered terribly because he was used as a provider more than a goal-scorer and also when he was in the box, the team did not play to his strengths by finding direct passes. On the other hand, Asensio returned from an ACL injury and had a good end to the season- which is a testimony that he is a quality player and may do a good job.

With a significant amount of training in the pre-season and tactical understanding of their profiles, Ancelotti may be able to get the best out of them and save Real Madrid a fortune of money.
