REAL MADRID CAN PUT THE MONEY TO ALTERNATIVE USE

A penny saved is a penny earned and that’s a saying that Florentino Perez, one of the sport’s shrewdest businessmen would be familiar with. Real Madrid can sign two or three good players this time around simply by postponing Mbappe’s arrival by a year. To think that the squad does not need a slight revamp in other areas is perhaps an overconfident take by both, Ancelotti and Perez.

With Raphael Varane likely to follow Sergio Ramos to the exit door, Los Merengues require a centre-back who can be a futuristic option and also immediately fill a giant-sized void at the heart of the backline. Jules Kounde or Pau Torres will be great options but perhaps the club is overlooking them simply because all their focus, financially and mentally, is on Mbappe.

Not to mention, Real Madrid could also do with a new central midfielder since the only one in their squad is Federico Valverde. Eduardo Camavinga, who was the club’s target before the coronavirus pandemic struck has been overlooked even though he is available for just 30 million euros. He is young and would be a brilliant signing, but seems to be another player who has gone under the eyes of the club’s sporting superiors.
