Raphael Varane has been strongly linked with a switch to Manchester United, but there remains a deadlock between the Red Devils and the Whites over the transfer fee behind the Frenchman. While Varane may be open to the idea of cutting his final year at Real Madrid or perhaps even elongating his contract, Real Madrid will not take any risks, nor can they afford to do so.
Paris Saint-Germain could do very well with Raphael Varane. As it is, they are signing Sergio Ramos and the Spaniard’s announcement could happen any minute now, so by signing Varane, they could put familiar partners in the heart of their backline. Marquinhos could be moved further up the pitch in a defensive midfielder’s role considering that he is a fairly versatile player.
Varane could have the opportunity to do an elongated stay in his home country, and will have the chance to play for France’s best team. Real Madrid could also use him as the most significant reducer of transfer fees given that Varane’s market worth is nearly 70 million euros. However, it is also on the player and if he desires the Premier League over Ligue 1, this may be a difficult option to go through.
