After reaching the Champions League semi-final and securing second place in La Liga last season, Real Madrid hope for better results in 2021/22.

Following Zinedine Zidane’s resignation at the end of last season in the aftermath of a lack of support from the club, Carlo Ancelotti arrived at the club in surprising circumstances. Although he was fired by the Whites six years ago for failing to win a trophy throughout the season, his return for a second tenure was welcomed with open hands by the fans and players, both.

Unfortunately, not everything is rosy at the Santiago Bernabeu as Sergio Ramos, the club’s most experienced player from last season’s squad has left, and could be followed to the exit door by Raphael Varane. David Alaba is the only new signing so far, but there is optimism among the fans that Kylian Mbappe will soon follow the Austrian defender to the Spanish capital.

Nevertheless, the squad is still capable of achieving big things at the end of next season. There will be an onus on the players to deliver the goods after an entire year without silverware, so Ancelotti will look to use his staff and the first-team players to their best strengths, as he has done in over two decades of managerial success in every country he has coached in.

But, what are the three biggest strong points of the current Real Madrid roster?
