JULES KOUNDE – CENTRAL DEFENDER

Jules Kounde wants to leave Sevilla this summer to try bigger and better things, but that may not be possible as not many clubs in Europe are looking for a central defender at the moment. Next year, Real Madrid could be his new destination and that may even happen in the winter, if the club is adventurous enough to plot a major spending midway through the season.

Sooner or later, Real Madrid would need a defender. Nacho is 30 years old now and Eder Militao could be the club’s only futuristic option in defence if Raphael Varane leaves in the upcoming weeks, or even worse, for free in 2022. David Alaba can play in the heart of defence, but his best football is played in a left-back or more advanced position where he can carry the ball higher up the pitch.

Kounde will cost Real Madrid close to 65 million euros, which is a very worthwhile investment for a player of his characteristics and potential. He is very similar to Sergio Ramos and may be the replacement the club is looking for, for its legendary captain. He could join the Merengues from Ramos’ former club itself and hope to replicate the Spaniard’s success at the Santiago Bernabeu.
