CZECH REPUBLIC
The Czech Republic pleasantly surprised everyone in Euros, with Patrick Shick the protagonist of their wonderful campaign. Schick scored the joint-top 5 goals, with the very best of the lot coming up against Scotland in the first match, a fascinating goal from near the halfway line. His brace against Scotland earned him the man of the match award. He also chimed in with crucial goals against Croatia and the Netherlands. His goal against Denmark couldn’t save them from bowing out of the tournament.
Honorable mention-Tomáš Souček
SWITZERLAND
Giant killers Switzerland were on a dream run, which ended in the Quarterfinal against Spain. They had a brilliant comeback against France in the Round of 16, from 3-1 down to 3-3, eventually winning the game on penalties.
Breel Embolo had a great tournament, although it ended on a low as he got injured in the Quarters. He was exceptional in their first group game against Wales, scoring a goal, and providing 2 key passes, which won him the man of the match award.
BELGIUM
Belgium’s Golden generation disappoints again as they got humbled by Italy in the Quarters. Injuries to De Bruyne and Hazard proved costly, but Romelu Lukaku was ever so consistent and scored a total of 4 goals in the tournament. The Inter striker had a strong showing and scored a brace in their first group match against Russia, thereby winning the man of the match.
