Karim Benzema has finally gotten the recognition he deserves in world football after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Real Madrid to Juventus. The French forward has stepped up since then and has been the club’s best performer for the past three seasons.

His consistent performances with Real Madrid have seen Benzema enter the debate of being the best striker in the world alongside the likes of  Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski, etc. However, in this article, I will provide you with three clear points on why Benzema is above every other striker in the world and why he should be considered the best and the most complete striker in recent times.

AN EXCEPTIONAL TROPHY CABINET

Currently, there’s no striker in the world that can boast a trophy cabinet other than that of Karim Benzema. There is not a single trophy that Benzema has not won during his time at Real Madrid and he’s won every single one of them on multiple occasions as well while playing a crucial role in each competition.

He’s won the UEFA Champions League on four occasions, La Liga thrice, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup twice, UEFA Super Cup thrice, and the FIFA Club World Cup four times. With Olympique Lyon, he won seven trophies – four Ligue 1’s, one Coupe de France and two French Super Cup’s.  And it’s not just his collective achievements, he’s also won a plethora of individual awards too. Name me a striker from today’s generation that has a trophy cabinet as good as Karim Benzema’s. I’ll wait.

He’s Real Madrid’s third all-time top-scorer, only below Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul with 279 goals to his name. He’s scored 31 goals for France and is currently their sixth-highest scorer despite being banned from the national team for over five years.

All of his achievements just go on to cement his legacy as one of the very best strikers in football history.
